About Our Collection

This site contains descriptions for about 300 fonds (collections): records created by local municipalities, organizations, businesses and private donors. There are more than 30,000 images and 500 maps, as well as many newspapers and other types of documents in our Archives. Only a small percentage has been digitized at this time.

Over the years, our online presence has grown substantially. The latest digitized records relate to the project, "Daniel McLachlin’s Legacy: Exploring the Lumbering Era of the Ottawa Valley" and were made available online March 31, 2020. They include correspondence (business and personal), ledgers, images, maps, plans, and an unpublished manuscript called 'Life in the Lumber Camps.' Also included in this release is the ability to zoom into high detail on some of our digitized maps and plans. Both can be accessed through the quick links above. This has been made possible by the Documentary Heritage Communities Program offered by Library and Archives Canada.

For further information on the collections or to have access to other images, maps, and documents, please contact the archivist at adarchives@hotmail.com.
