As of the fall of 2021, more newspaper issues from the Arnprior & McNab/Braeside Archives' collection have been digitized. The list below details what is now available online, which are our complete holdings up to 1968, and issues of The Arnprior Guide from 1968 up to 1975. The bulk of the digitized newspapers are of The Arnprior Chronicle. There are missing years and gaps, which we hope to fill when other issues are donated to the Archives.
The digitized newspapers have been made searchable, although the quality of the search function is poor for some issues. Therefore, it may be worthwhile to browse the newspaper issues rather than to fully rely on the search function. Please be patient as some of the issues may be slow to load.
There are Births, Marriages, and Deaths Indexes abstracted from the Archives' newspaper holdings from 1888 to September 1936 that may help in finding ancestors. These indexes are available online and have been linked to the related newspaper image. Further information is available here.
Issues beyond the digitized dates are available to view at the Archives on microfilm. A complete list of newspaper titles and further information is available here.
The newspaper digitizing project is funded in part by the Ottawa Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society, who provided the funding for digitizing up to 1937, and the Government of Canada, through the New Horizons for Seniors Program, who provided funding to digitize up to the mid-1970s.
