Scope and Content
Newspaper clipping of the obituary of Captain Jack Affleck, who died from a kidney ailment at the age of 38. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Affleck of "Beaver Creek Farm" near Glasgow Station. The Affleck family purchased that farm from the Dillon family in 1883. Jack graduated from Arnprior High School, completed a degree in medicine at McGill University and promptly went to fight in WWI, where he was awarded the Military Cross and Bar for conspicuous bravery in the face of extreme danger. While there, he contracted the kidney ailment. He came back to Canada and set up a medical practice in British Columbia, where he eventually died.
