History / Biography
After much debate, the Town of Arnprior decided to support the efforts of a local committee to twin with a community in the USA and the USSR. The goal of the project was to exchange knowledge about the interests and concerns of a similar community in each country. "It is our sincere hope that small steps such as ours towards international, social and cultural exchange will help in the universal goal of peach" wrote Mayor Tom Sullivan. The intiative was also endorsed by the councils of McNab, Pakenham and Braeside. A musical theatre production 'Peace Child', directed by Lawrence Mahusky was funded through a Challenge '86 Summer Employment Grant and donations from various organizations. A newsletter "The Twinning Times" was published by the committee to provide information about the Arnprior Twinning Project and profiled the towns of Canton USA and Kamenec-Podolski USSR. A hockey match between the Arnprior Bantam Packers and a team from Canton took place in March 1986.

History / Biography
The Arnprior Women’s Institute is a branch within Renfrew South District. Their first meeting was in the Council Chambers on January 8, 1932; 12 members were present and paid a fee of 25 cents. Over the years Arnprior Women's Institute has supported such causes as St. John Ambulance, Canadian National Institute for the Blind, Victorian Order of Nurses, Arnprior Fair, Arnprior and District Memorial Hospital, Arnprior’s Grove, refugees, and donations to fire victims. The branch amalgamated in April 2002 with Stewartville to become the Arnprior-Stewartville Branch. That branch then disbanded in 2008, with remaining members joining the White Lake Branch.
