Assessment Rolls 1887-1931 D 1, D 2, D 3, D 4
Assessment rolls provide the following information: name of taxable party, occupation, address of taxable party, tenant or householder, age of taxable party, public or separate school supporter, number of children, number of concession and name of street, number of lot or house, value of real property, number in family, and religion. By the 1920’s, the name of the wife and other family members sometimes are listed in the rolls.

Collectors rolls provide the following information: name of party assessed, address, tenant or freeholder, date of assessment notice, public or separate school supporter and amount paid.

An original File list was created in 1997 upon the transfer of files from the Town of Arnprior to the Archives. The collection was re-processed in 2015-2015 resulting in some files being culled where the content of the file was not of historical significance. A new file list will be added to description when this process is complete.

File 1: Original manuscript and reprint of article "Champlain as A Naturalist" which appeared in the Canadian Feild Naturalist Vol. XL No. 6 1926.
File 2: Champlain As A Naturalist - Correspondence to and from Charles Macnamara regarding the birds, fruit and plants which Champlain encountered during his exploration of Eastern Ontario.
File 3: Champlain's Astrolabe - File contains photographs of E. Lee and site of his discovery of Champlain's astrolabe in 1867 as well as various post cards depicting Champlain monuments, a photograph of the astrolabe in the collection of Samuel V. Hoffman (circa 1919), a blue-print map of the St. Lawrence River from Lachine Rapids to St. Anne circa 1906, a pamphlet written about Edward George Lee's discovery of the astrolabe containing several small prints (two missing), a typed statement of Lee about the discover dated August 1, 1919 and other related research. This file also contains photocopies of duplicate prints of Macnamara's that exist elsewhere in the collection.
File 4: Some Orchids of Eastern North America - A seven page typed manuscript signed by Macnamara but not dated. First page has faded completely. File also contains an envelope of orchid prints which were placed between the pages of two unused McLachlin Lumber co. Shanty Books.
File 5: Achorutes socialis Uzel - 7 page manuscript with photos about this insect.
File 6: Carvalho and Fremont's Fifth Expedition 1853-4 - Correspondence and notes regarding the work of these American photographers.
File 7: Winter Walk 24 Feb 1924 - hand-written account in notebook. Typed version in file.
