D. S. Lough informs Hugh that they arrived alright, but that there is twice as much work to do than imagined. The wood for much of the mill is rotten and they will require much more. He then asks for Hugh to send him a list of what timber is on its way so that they can wait for it at the dam.

History / Biography
Arnprior was first settled by Europeans in 1825 when Archibald McNab brought 80 settlers from Scotland to the township he named after himself. In 1862, Arnprior was incorporated as a village and in 1892, it was incorporated as a town. The population grew as Arnprior provided employment through its various industries, most notably the McLachlin Mills, the Kenwood Mills, the Canadian Public Booth Co., M. Sullivan and Son, Pfizer and Scheel Windows to name only a few. Over the years, Arnprior has grown into a thriving community providing its residents with a wide range of social and public services.

In this final letter, McPhee writes to McLachlin from North Portal (Possibly Saskatchewan) to tell him about his debts on the farm. His son is laid up with a gunshot to the foot and cannot work. The price per bushel of wheat is less than the cost of growing it. He asks McLachlin to buy his livestock and to give him advice.
