The newspaper clipping, telegram copy, negatives and prints donated by Mrs. Janet Carlile May 2003 and October 2013.
Scope and Content
File consists of:
1. Clipping of James Isbester’s obituary. He died on Jan. 22, 1997. He was a member of the Arnprior and District Historical Society and lived in the prominent old stone house on the south side of McDonnell Street in Sand Point, which was built by Alexander McDonnell (founder of Sand Point).
2. Photocopy of pages from McNab — The Township with references to James Isbester. A retired engineer, he had a large collection of railway books and papers. There may have been material about local lines. The whereabouts of this collection is unknown.
3. Three 35-mm B&W negatives and prints of Captain James Emery Isbester and Katherine Jean Campbell Isbester along with Captain George F. Eley and nursing sister Lieutenant Jean Laird in Arnprior in the fall of 1944. Third negative and print are of Mrs. Neil Campbell, mother of Alan Campbell, Steele Campbell, Natalie Campbell and Katherine Campbell standing in the doorway of the Campbell building (corner of Madawaska and John streets). These prints appear to have been part of a photograph album. Donated by Mrs. Janet Carlile May 2003.
4. 7 page typed transcript written by J. A. Steele 1955 "The Steeles of Ramsay Township, Lanark County, Ontario" The narrative details the immigration of the Steel family from Lanark Scotland to Lanark, Canada in the early 1800's.
5. Telegram (copy) and newspaper clipping from Ottawa Journal July 26 1973 pertaining to James Neil Campbell's survival of a plane crash in Tahiti in which 78 people died. He was the sole survivor.
6. Wedding invitation for Katherine Jean Campbell and Captain James E. Isbester R.C.E. Nov 24 1943 on page with news clipping announcements of engagement and marriage.
