In 2016 and 2017 the Arnprior & McNab/Braeside Archives undertook a special project to explore the connection between what McNab settlers produced in the early days in Township and what local producers are making today. Through oral history interviews the AMBA delved into themes of innovation, continuity and the return of the farm to table movement that is changing how people think about living off the land as Canada celebrates its 150th anniversary. The goal was to interview and document several McNab/Braeside families who are commercially producing various products such as maple syrup, honey, highland cattle, alpaca wool products, and vegetables from large to very small scale producers. Several families submitted family photos which the archives now holds as well as the oral history interviews. An on-line exhibit was created as part of this project which features selected photographs and audio clips from this collection.
Scope and Content
This series consists of oral history records created by the Arnprior & McNab/Braeside Archives (AMBA) for its 150 project funded by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport through its Community Celebrations program. Oral history interviews were conducted by Laurie Dougherty and Dianne Brearley of the following participants:

longer partof the fabric of the community. While some types of businesses have
disappeared from the Township, a strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit

One of seven black and white aerial photographs donated by Ted Strike, of the Town of Arnprior which document the downtown core, the area around the hospital and the new housing development north of Madawaska Boulevard, known as the avenues. One image shows the Madawaska River upstream from the bridges of Arnprior, before the dam was built which changed the waterway completely and created a head pond.
Ted Strike was head of Public works for the Town of Arnprior from 1975 - 1999.
