History / Biography
The Land Preservation Society of Ottawa Valley (formerly called the Save The Grove Committee) was incorporated September 1, 1991. This series of 6 maps were received by this archives in 2003. With the maps was a letter to the Town of Arnprior concerning the request for the official plan amendment, as well as a Spring 1992 newsletter.
Scope and Content
This is one of a series of 6 maps received and are said to be exact copies of what was sent to the Public Trustees Office. They were sent to the Town of Arnprior on February 8, 1991 by the English Oblates of Eastern Canada for an official plan amendment for a proposed subdivision.
This map shows the proposed development of the Grove within Arnprior. The proposed streets, housing blocks, some lots and residential units (apartments) are laid out, as well as the protected environment areas. It shows existing public and private properties around the Grove, such as the Galillee Centre, Nursing home, and a school.
There is a key plan insert showing the location within the town.
