William Davies was born 20 August 1852 in England and died in Arnprior on 27 March 1924. He married first Mary Ann Evans (b. 1838, Ludlow, England) who died in Arnprior in 1898 and in 1899 married Margaret Louise Campbell (b. 1864). Mary Ann and William had three children: William E. Davies (b. 1878 d. 1932), Ernest J. Davies (b 1883) and Jane Davies (b. 1866). William E. Davies married Ella G. Bryan (b. 1874 d. 1936). They had Roland Gerald (b. 1904 d. 1905) and G. W. Davies (b.1909 d. 1977). Ernest J. Davies married Mary Frances Bryan (d. 1935). The W. G. Davies family lived at 97 Madawaska Street. Ernest J. Davies played clarinet in the Arnprior Band in 1923. A photograph of him with the band appears on page 105 of "The Arnprior Story". William Davies worked at the Arnprior Curling Club. It is not known where the family moved to when they left Arnprior.

These photographs and other papers, mostly pertaining to the Davies family on 97 Madawaska Street, Arnprior, were found in the house after it was purchased in about 1980 by the firm of Sury, Rowe and Kasprzak.
Scope and Content
Many photographs are of Arnprior in the first half of the 20th century, including views of Madawaska Street, the C.N.R. station etc. Most photographs do not identify who the people are in them. In some cases, however, they contain interesting details (vehicles, fashion, etc.) Several Arnprior photographers such as Wallis Studio, Arnprior Art Studio, Pittaway Studio are represented in the collection. The photographs are of people, places, buildings, family and pets. The textual material contains letters in memoriam, receipts, etc.
