The goal of the project was to exchange knowledge about the interests and concerns of a similar community in each country. "It is our sincere hope that small steps such as ours towards international, social and cultural exchange will help in the universal goal of peach" wrote Mayor Tom Sullivan. The intiative was also endorsed by the councils of McNab, Pakenham and Braeside. A musical theatre production 'Peace Child', directed by Lawrence Mahusky was funded through a Challenge '86 Summer Employment Grant and donations from various organizations. A newsletter "The Twinning Times" was published by the committee to provide information about the Arnprior Twinning Project and profiled the towns of Canton USA and Kamenec-Podolski USSR. A hockey match between the Arnprior Bantam Packers and a team from Canton took place in March 1986.
