The Arnprior McNab Lions Club was formed after a meeting was held in November of 1988 to discuss the viability of a second Lions Club in the Arnprior area. The area of responsibility was defined as "McNab Township, including the Town of Arnprior and the Village of Braeside". Meetings were held in members homes, McNab Public School, the Vacation Inn, Ottawa Valley News Building, Jim's Restaurant, P.J's Restaurant, the Christian Education Centre and McCallum's Restaurant. Dues were set at $50.00 per year at the first Executive Meeting held February 21 1989. The first president was Terry Gibeau with Steve Shephard as Secretary and Jim Rivett as Treasurer. Lion Moodie Campbell of the Renfrew Lions Club (sponsoring club) provided assistance to the new club in its formative year. The club held their charter night dinner and dance on March 25 1989 at the Arnprior District Civic Centre. Others who were responsible for getting this new club organized were Lawrence Acres, Raymond Cook, James P. Havey, Doug Hewitt, Peter Hogan, Norman Kinkaid, Bill Lairar, Ken MacDonald, Time McGrath, Peter T. McKay, Gary McLaren, Norman McLaren, Terry McLaren, David Olmstead, Tom Peckett, Gary Russett, Tim Shier, Terry Smith, Greg Townley and Doug Yourt. As early as 1990, the Arnprior Lions Club and the Arnprior McNab Lions Club were working together on joint projects. This new club soon established itself as a major donor to the Libary building fund, eventually donated thirty thousand dollars.Throughout the years, other fund raising activities included assisting with the Arnprior Fair, McNab Winter Carnival, running Lob Ball Tournaments, supporting the Arnprior District Memorial Hospital expansion, the International Plowing Match and numerous other projects. In 2005, the Arnprior McNab Lions Club merged with the Arnprior Lions Club to form one service club.
