Lorne Bretzlaff and his brother Mel worked for 1 year at Gillies Bros. Temagami when Lorne was 16 years old. They grew up in Ladysmith, Quebec where they had heard stories of the lumber camps from their uncle. Later, Lorne Bretzlaff moved to Arnprior where he established Lorne's Electric.

Scope and Content
Lorne Bretzlaff worked for Gillies Bros. Co. Ltd. for one season (1947-1948) when he photographed the area around Temagami Camp 2. The poster, letter and payroll records were retreived from an office in 1979 before the building was demolished. Donation consists of:
1. Payroll Register (7 pages) circa 1948 (Restricted until 2023)
2. Gillies Bros. letter from G. B. Gillies to H. M. Dundas at Temagami dated August 25, 1948 regarding arrangements for taking inventory of goods.
