Newspapers belonging to various individuals have been donated to the Arnprior & McNab/Braeside Archives (AMBA) since it opened in 1993. The Arnprior District Museum transferred various newspaper editions since 1999. The Arnprior Chronicle-Guide donated its collection to the AMBA in 1995.
Scope and Content
This collection includes several different area newspapers, which were published on a weekly basis. Most newspapers in the collection were published in Arnprior or contain content related to the Arnprior area, with the exception of the Scottish American Journal.
The collection has been digitized up to 1975 and is available on our website. Ripped, missing and yellowed pages make it impossible to search every page of the digitized collection, so it is also worth browsing issues of interest. A link to the finding aid is below.
Microfilm copies of most of the collection are also available for viewing in the AMBA. In some cases, the microfilm copy is the only remaining copy. Contact the Archives for more information for specific dates as there are significant gaps in the holdings described below:;

Notes
Newspapers in this collection contain language from the era in which it was written. This includes problematic wording, cultural references, and stereotypes that are no longer used or appropriate today, such as racist and sexist jokes or points of view.
Archives volunteers have extracted the following genealogical information from our newspaper holdings:
1. Birth, Marriage and Death information from 1888 to 1933.
2. Deaths from 2000 onwards.
Both indexes are available for research purposes in the Archives reading room and to purchase on CD. Contact the AMBA for more details.
Access Restriction
Clients must use digitized version or microfilm when possible. If microfilm is not available, hard copies may be restricted from use due to fragile condition.
