The Victorian Order of Nurses operated in the Arnprior area from 1913 to early 1990's. The purpose of the the public health organization was to provide nursing care services to patients in their homes. Working with doctors, VON nurses gave nursing care on a daily basis or less frequently depending on the patient's needs. Nurses provided all kinds of assistance from foot care to pre-natal visits and often trained someone from the family to provide on-going care. In 2016 the National organization's Vision statement is "Health Starts at Home". It's mission statement is "VON Canada works in partnership with Canadians for a healthier society" and Core Values are Respect, Participation, Responsiveness, Courage.
