- Joanne Clouthier grew up in Braeside. Her father Gerald Desjardins served in the Royal Canadian Artillary during WWII and was wounded in France. He worked for Gillies Bros. and operated a water delivery truck for the village of Braeside. In March 1967 he was appointed Fire Chief for the Village.
