History / Biography
Creator of the scrapbook was probably Mrs. Bev Shaw who was a Guide leader in Arnprior in the late1940's. She was originally from Cape Breton and had considerable experience in the Guide movement there. She moved back to Nova Scotia after living in Arnprior.
Acquisition Source
Scrapbook was purchased by donor at a garage sale in New Waterford, Nova Scotia and sent to Arnprior District Museum. They offered it to the AMBA.
Scope and Content
Scrapbook contains newspaper clippings and several b&w photographs of Girl Guide and Brownies activities in Arnprior and Ottawa in 1948 and 1949. See 8 item level descriptions of photographs contained in the scrapbook.
Fonds also contains a poster for a benefit dance for burnt our families following a fire at Sand Point in November of 1952. The dance took place at the Braeside Club rooms. Music was donated by the Ottawa Valley Melodiers.
