History / Biography
Mrs. Olive Somerville (nee Carswell) was a curator at the Waba Cottage Museum in White Lake and a member of the McNab Museum and Heritage Committee.

Donated by the estate of the late Mrs. Olive Somerville in June 1995.
Scope and Content
Collection consists of school registers for Schools No. 3 and No. 13, McNab Township. Also included in the collection are records dealing with the Glasgow and Dewar Cheese Factory and correspondence to Mr. and Mrs. A. Carswell.
SERIES 1 School No. 3. -- 1892-1939. -- 28 items.
Series consists of daily registers; the 1930-1934 register also contains minutes of annual meetings held at the school as well as a copy of Regulation 13--”Religious Exercises and Religious Education in the Public Schools”. In 1894 Bella Dewar was the teacher; Mr. J. A. Stewart was the Secretary; G. G. McNab was the school inspector.
SERIES 2 School No. 13. -- 1884-1946. -- 6 items.
Series consists of daily registers of German settlement/Clay Valley (4 registers: 1896-1897; 1914; 1920) and minutes of the annual meetings (2 volumes: 1884-1892; 1898-1946); treasurer’s statements for the period 1898-1939 are also contained in the 1898-1946 minute book.
SERIES 3 Glasgow and Dewar Cheese Factory Association. -- 1901-1926. -- 3 items.
Series consists of a minute book, rules and regulations of the Association, bylaw no. 30 (1926), and a certificate for first grade or finest cheese (1928).
SERIES 4 Mr. and Mrs. A. Carswell. -- ca. 1950. -- 2 items.
Series consists of a thank you card from many people, and a 1950 letter to them both from the Glasgow community, who are expressing their regret that the Carswells are leaving the community.
