In this final letter, McPhee writes to McLachlin from North Portal (Possibly Saskatchewan) to tell him about his debts on the farm. His son is laid up with a gunshot to the foot and cannot work. The price per bushel of wheat is less than the cost of growing it. He asks McLachlin to buy his livestock and to give him advice.
