This handwritten letter is addressed to David Russell of Pakenham and is written by Laird Archibald McNab and William Yuill. They ask Russell to set a fair rent price for the operation of the sawmill on the Waba Creek. William Yuill is renting the mill from McNab in order to operate it.
The Laird was force to demolish this mill late 1843, as his use of it to thwart John Paris' Mill further downstream and its placement on the 4th Concession line, blocking the highway, got him declared a "public nuisance."
