Scope and Content
From a description of the letter in Peter Hessel's book, McNab: The Township: 'Laird to Allan from Montreal, about several pending court cases. He informed his son that Archibald Wilson had signed the lease for the Laird's White Lake farm and water priveleges, "closed all matters as to the Farm, Dam and Water Priveleges ... all matters being firmly fixed by a legal Lease". (Archibald Wilson, an Englishman, had come to the Township in 1832.) "It will save your Mother and Kitty a great deal of drudgery and anxiety, for all they will have to trouble themselves about now will be the cows and sheep and their garden. Be cautious how you sell the hay, it will be worth 20 dollars per ton. I am beginning to find my liver and side very sore from travelling... I came here just in time, for my liver was getting very bad, the Doctor has put me under a Course of Mercury already, which will likely occupy some months, as he does not consider it prudent to give me much at once ... I am sadly in need of money".
