8. Transcript by Peter Hessel of the minutes of a meeting dated January 7, 1850, held at the home of John McIntyre on the Flat Rapids Road. This is the first entry in the minute book. This meeting was the first meeting of “inhabitant freeholders and householders of the townships of McNab & Bagot”. This meeting nominated the candidates for councillor (John Paris, Peter Robertson, James Morris, William Storie, John Fisher, Allan Stewart, John Robertson, George Rochester, James Carmichael, Duncan Campbell, Alex McDonnell. Rochester, Carmichael and McDonnell withdrew. Eight men “stood for the poll”. The following 5 were elected (number of votes in brackets): John Paris (86), James Morris (80), John Fisher (77), Allan Stewart (63), William Storie (56). James Brown (or Browne), the Clerk, was the returning officer.
9. Transcript by Peter Hessel of the minutes of a council meeting dated January 21, 1850, the first Council meeting of the newly elected McNab Council — the first under the new Municipal Act. Election of Reeve (James Morris), and appointments. Meeting was held at the home of James Dickson on Lot 19, Concession 5. Treasurer: John Forrest.
10. Transcript by Peter Hessel of the minutes of a council meeting dated January 19, 1857, at the home of Daniel McIntyre. John Paris was sworn into office as Reeve. Appointment of officers. Interesting record of the process of passing a bylaw.
11. Photocopy of clipping of article entitled “Early Days in McNab Township from The Farmer’s Advocate (date?). Roads, bridges. Balmer Island, Stewartville.
12. Photocopy of clipping of article entitled “Renfrew County’s Early History Told in New-Found Documents”. Arnprior, April 8 (year?). When Ontario Hydro built the power station at Stewartville, the old township hall was vacant; it contained many documents (“among ankle-deep debris”).
13. Clipping of item from Chronicle-Guide, March 4, 1987, “McNab Pay Rates” by Judy Bedore. States salaries and hourly wages of reeve, councillors and officers.
14. Clipping of article by David Crompton in Arnprior Chronicle-Guide of (date?) 1987 regarding annexation of some McNab land by Arnprior.
15. Photocopy (2 pages) of certain accounts marked 1858. These were found in Alexander Stewart’s account book (Waba), 1858, which was held by Duncan G. Stewart. The originals may be in the Stewart Famco fonds.
