R.A. Stewart, former Deputy Reeve of McNab Township, was a founding member of the Arnprior and District Archives. He was the son of Milton Stewart (Reeve of McNab)) and father of Neil Stewart (Mayor of McNab/Braeside Township).

1. Booklet (58 pages) written by R.A. Stewart: “Eighty Years of Memories in Renfrew County (1995)”. Autographed. Donated by Peter Hessel to the Archives. [Former accession number 94-0021.] Recommendation by Peter Hessel: compile an alphabetical index for this booklet.
2. Typed 1987 notes (17 pages) by R.A. Stewart for Peter Hessel, “History of McNab Township”. List of councils from 1850 to 1987, with names of clerks. Industries. Post offices. Service stations; Alexander McDonnell; restaurants; blacksmiths; railway stations; school fairs; Agricultural Society, Balmer Island Fair; general stores. See also file: “Walton Scrapbook”, which contains a photocopy of a photo of Clerk J.D. McNab on page 6).
3. Handwritten notes (12 pages) by R.A. Stewart for Peter Hessel, May 27, 1987, containing various items of historical information about McNab Township. Dr. Carswell, agricultural census of 1851 (1852); Alexander Miller; local government, council;
4. Handwritten notes (3 pages) by R.A. Stewart including information on Stewartville and the old township hall, township fair, etc.
5. Clipping from a local newspaper (Renfrew Mercury?) with photo of R.A. Stewart and his sister Janet Carmichael [Jamieson] nee Stewart (as children, taken in 1917 in Arnprior).

Referring to R.A.’s speech at an all-candidates’ meeting in which he backed incumbent Norman Kinkade as reeve over opponent Frank Russett. R.A, was acclaimed as deputy reeve after Frank Russett had stepped down as reeve.
