Glenn Arthur, also known by his nickname “Archie”, is a fixture in Arnprior’s history. Born in Almonte, Ontario, he worked as the Recreation Director of Almont from 1974-1978 and then moved to Red Rock as Director of Recreation from 1978-1982. In 1982, he moved to Arnprior. Arthur served as the Director of Recreation for the Town of Arnprior for 35 years, and between 2018 and 2021, as the Coordinator of the Senior’s Active Living Centre in Arnprior.

This interview is a conversation between Glenn Arthur and Laurie Dougherty, then archivist of the Arnprior & McNab/Braeside Archives. It was conducted 16 January 2018 at the Nick Smith Centre Arena, Arnprior, Ontario, and was completed shortly before the retirement of Glenn Arthur as the Town of Arnprior’s Director of Recreation in 2018. It refers to the years of his work serving in this capacity.
