School Section #8 at Clay Bank was formed in 1857. It was originally situated on Lot 4 Concession 9 on the White Lake road. In 1905 a new, one room school house was built on the same site. It was raised in 1925 and replaced with another which had a concrete foundation, a full basement and a wood-burning furnace. In 1930 toilets were installed in the basement which “were a great success” according to teacher James Gillie. This school closed in 1950 when the students were bused to Arnprior. In 1964, students were transferred to Pinegrove school when tuition rose from $6.18 to $24.90 per month in Arnprior. In 1967, the Clay Bank section was included in the catchment area of the new McNab Public School. Athol Moorhead attended Clay Bank school and was later trustee and secretary of the school board.
