The file contains mostly material (notes, memos, letters, lists, clippings, photos, etc.) generated and collected by Peter Hessel in 1998 in connection with the rebuilding and revision (correction of names) of the Arnprior War Memorial on John Street for the Canadian Legion. In the process of this research, it was also “discovered” that the Town of Arnprior had presented “Welcome Home medals” after World War I, and that some local residents still have some of these. Other key terms: soldiers, military, World War I, World War II, Korean War, cenotaph, war medals. The documents have not yet been described in detail.
In November 2008, Garry Dowd (of the Arnprior Legion) compiled a list of veterans who fought in the first world war (WWI) and the second world war (WWII) as well as Korea. This list is by Surname, Christian name, whether the name apears on the cenotaph and which war they served in.
